Before that, this building was the hunting lodge of a noble English family.

Back in 1096 the Giffard family gave the land of Prinknash to the abbot of St. Peter's in Gloucester. Over the centuries the structure was converted from a noble family's hunting lodge to a gathering place for the monastic community. However, the real conversion of the abbey began more precisely in 1928, when a group of Benedictine monks settled there and began producing a high-quality incense.

The English Benedictine monastery is famous for its peaceful surroundings and hard-working community, but it is also known for its high quality incense.

The monastic incense of Prinknash Abbey, in fact, is especially recognized by its distinctive aroma. Inspired by Exodus 30:34-35 the monks developed unique and special processes for blending the purest Arabic frankincense with precious aromatic oils and spices. The result? High quality recipes, which have been consolidated over the centuries. Their excellence is well known in Europe and in general all around the world.
