The importance of the candle ring in religious articles

The usefulness of candle rings in church is mainly linked to the symbolic function of the candles themselves. In fact, candles represent the light of Christ, and their presence within the church serves to illuminate the environment and create an atmosphere of spirituality and devotion.

The candle ring is a very important religious item, designed to support the candle, prevent it from falling or moving during use and in some cases could help reduce dripping.

These sacred objects can have different sizes to hold smaller candles or larger candles and the material with which they are generally made is brass.

The history of candle rings

The history of candle rings dates back to the Middle Ages, when the Catholic Church began to use candles during liturgical celebrations. Initially, they were simply placed on benches or shelves, but soon the need developed  to create special supports to keep them in place and avoid unpleasant accidents.

The candle rings then evolved from these first supports, becoming increasingly elaborate and decorated objects. Over the centuries, the materials used for their realization changed according to artistic trends and economic availability, but the symbolic function remained the same.
